foreign missions

The nations are the Lord’s.  He reigns over them and He will have a people for Himself out of them all.  With the same confidence that propelled William Carey and others to go find them and bring them to Jesus, so we labor with joy to “bring the strangers home.”  Isaiah’s confident joy in missions is ours as he writes in chapter 12:

1 You will say in that day: "I will give thanks to you, O LORD,

for though you were angry with me, your anger turned away, that you might comfort me.

2 "Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the LORD GOD is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation."

3 With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.

4 And you will say in that day: "Give thanks to the LORD, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the peoples, proclaim that his name is exalted.

5 "Sing praises to the LORD, for he has done gloriously; let this be made known in all the earth.

6 Shout, and sing for joy, O inhabitant of Zion, for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel."

There is nothing easy about missions, especially to foreign lands and cultures.  It is complicated more than anyone could ever know who has never been involved in making it happen.  It is expensive, dangerous, and demanding in every way.  But we are called and we must do it.  And with all the difficulties involved in foreign missions, it is worth it.  Our Lord does supply His grace and power, therefore it can be done and it can done with joy and great reward.  We are committed!

The foreign mission efforts of Grace Baptist exist in Canada, Germany, Spain, Brazil, and Argentina.  The ongoing mission efforts we pray for, and the special projects we support and feel vitally connected with, are taking place in many other nations of the world.  There is no end to praying, giving, and going until Jesus comes to take His people home.
